On April 25, 2013 people with brain injuries, researchers, family members, service providers, brain injury advocates, staff of state and local government agencies, and students from Texas will come together in the Austin suburb of Round Rock for TexasBIA’s 29th Annual State Conference.
This conference is a forum to encourage dialogue and interaction as we search for ways in which we can strengthen our Texas Brain Injury Community.

2013 Keynote Speakers
Gavin Attwood, Executive Director, Colorado Brain Injury Alliance Gavin Attwood has been the Executive Director of the Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado (BIAC) since September 2008. Prior to the position with BIAC he was the VP of Marketing and Events for the National Sports Center for the Disabled based in Denver, CO. Gavin brings many years of fund raising, marketing and organizational leadership to BIAC. Gavin serves as the Chair of the Colorado Brain Injury Collaborative that successfully passed ‘Jake’s Law’ in March 2011. This law seeks to protect youth athletes from the effects of multiple concussions. He is also the chair of the Colorado Brain Injury Advisory Council and the Governor-appointed State Rehabilitation Council.
Dr. Jude Theriot, Medical Director, Touchstone Neurorecovery Center. Dr. Theriot is a neurologist who specializes in the rehabilitation of persons with brain injury. He is particularly interested in treating the cognitive and mood dysfunction that result from traumatic brain injury and stroke. In addition to serving as medical director for Touchstone Neurorecovery Center, a post-acute residential rehabilitation program in Conroe, Texas, he is a certified instructor of meditation. He is also the author of the recent e-book Peaceful Habits: A Brain Injury Doctor Teaches Meditation to his Patients and Distills the Experience into a Modern Prescription for Peacefulness.
Bridgett Wallace, CEO, Concussion Health has a doctorate of physical therapy and holds a competency-based certification in vestibular
rehabilitation. Ms. Wallace lectures nationwide to other providers regarding dizziness and balance disorders and has been a consultant for The University of Texas Athletic Department for more than 13 years regarding concussion management. In the past 2 years, she has served as a consultant for the Major League of Baseball Umpires’ Medical Staff as well as other collegiate and professional organizations. Bridgett currently serves on a specialty workgroup regarding concussion management for the American Physical Therapy Association. 360 Balance has received a “Top Clinics” award from the Austin Business Journal (ABJ) four years in a row and, in 2011, Bridgett was one of the recipients of the “Health Care Heroes” award given by the ABJ.
